Alpinists send new route near RMNP

The team poses for their summit shot
on top of Unnamed Suburban Hill (9,260 ft)
Breaking News: Two young alpinists from Lafayette, CO made a possible first ascent of the Northwest Face of Unnamed Suburban Hill in Estes Park just outside Rocky Mountain National Park over President's Day weekend, 2014.
Yvie Parker and Sam Bryan sent the route, now named Can We Have Hot Chocolate Now? in a single push from their backyard snow fort, summiting just before nap time on Saturday. Temps were in the high 40s and there was wind blowing from the West reported their support team.
The team made the ascent in alpine style
carrying no ropes, food nor water and just insulated snowpants and parkas. An interesting ethical note: Parker climbed with only one mitten, preferring to leave one hand bare in order to gain greater connection with the climb and to find solace on long, hard leads by sucking on her thumb.
The crux of the route came on the lower face as it transitioned out of the opening slabs. The team found difficult trail breaking and steep slopes causing Parker to resort to aid by riding on her support team's shoulders. Bryan forged upward solo breaking trail for his exhausted partner. "I didn't know if she would make it." Bryan said "It was kind of exciting up there."
Despite the difficulties, the team reached the summit and were rewarded by sweeping views of the Estes Park Valley, Lumpy Ridge and the peaks of nearby RMNP. Hypoxic and delirious upon reaching the summit, Parker was heard to remark "Daddy, I can see Cinderella's Castle from here!!" Worried about the climber's health in the thin air, the support team called for an immediate descent.
On the descent, they were met by an older, stronger Boulder/Longmont team and their young protege working on the first all-female ascent of the route. The teams traded amicable greetings as they passed.
When asked what their next goal was, Parker replied "Probably reading a book and maybe pretending to be Elsa from Frozen." While it seems the climbers are keeping their next big objective a secret, we will be sure to keep an eye on these rising stars.
